Here you will find clear answers about insurance coverage, telehealth appointments across New Jersey, what to expect in session, and my approach to compassionate care.

Frequently asked questions

Therapy is a collaborative process designed around your pace, identity, and goals. Explore details about services for children ages 9 and up, adolescents, adults, and seniors across New Jersey.

What can I expect during my first session?

Our first session is all about getting comfortable and getting to know one another. We will review how therapy works, discuss what brought you in, and explore your goals at a pace that feels safe and supportive. There is never any pressure to dive into painful details right away.

What is the first appointment like for parents bringing in a child or teen?

For children (ages 9 and up) and adolescents, the focus is on building safety, rapport, and trust rather than trying to immediately "fix" everything. We begin with introductions so your child feels comfortable in the space without fear of judgment. Together with parents, we discuss what changes or concerns have emerged, how things are going at home and school, what has already been tried, and what you hope therapy will achieve, forming a gentle collaborative plan.

Do I have to talk about everything right away, and what if I am nervous?

It is completely normal to feel nervous or not know what to say. You are in control of what you share and when. We move at your pace, and I will guide our conversations with gentle prompts and active listening.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

I accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey Medicare Advantage, Humana Medicare Advantage, United Healthcare Mediciad Advantage, Aetna Medicare Advantage, Oscar (Optum), Oxford (Optum), and United Healthcare (Optum). Please note that Medicaid is not accepted at this time. For more information regarding private-pay and out-of-network options, please visit the insurance and rates page.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Currently, all therapy services are provided virtually through secure telehealth appointments for clients residing anywhere in New Jersey. In-person session options are planned for the future.

Do you provide LGBTQIA+ affirming and culturally responsive care?

Yes, absolutely. I offer affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and create an open space where race, ethnicity, culture, and identity can always be safely discussed and honored.

What specific concerns and age groups do you treat?

I provide individual counseling for children (ages 9 and up), adolescents, teens, adults, and seniors (65 and up). My clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, stress management, identity exploration, and trauma/PTSD.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, counseling is strictly confidential according to state and federal professional standards and HIPAA laws. We will review all legal privacy protections and their few safety-related exceptions during our initial paperwork and intake.
